Surcharge Announcement 21 November 2008

Please be informed our current fare Surcharge of $15.00 will be reduced by S$1.00 to $14.00 effective Monday 24th November 2008. The surcharge is applicable to all 2-way ferry tickets for both adult & child commuters for ferries plying to all destinations, independent of the ferry ticket fare. 1-way tickets will incur a surcharge of $7.00.

Ferry ticket issues on or after November 24th, 2008 will be charged as below:

1. For Ticket Ferry Fare Details, please refer to price list page
2. For those advance tickets prior sold excluding Surcharge, the Surcharge shall be collected at the point of departure.
3. All prices are excluding Terminal Passenger Departure Fees

Although international oil prices have reduced significantly in recent times, the indirect cost implication of the fuel hike over the past years still continues to impact us greatly.

This reduction in surcharge is in line with the company’s policy of charging fair value for our services given.

We shall continue to monitor the situation closely. Thank you for your continued support.

Reclassification of Fuel Surcharge to “Surcharge” 24th October 2008

A massive escalation in the price of fuel & other costs over the past 2 years has resulted in very significant increases in our cost of operations.

Besides the direct cost of fuel to us, spare parts, maintenance contracts, lubricating oil, crew, insurance, shipping costs & labour costs, among others, have also continually increased without ease.

Our company introduced a lagging fuel surcharge to help alleviate the very high costs of operations. This surcharge was intended to ensure that service levels did not fall victim to the increased cost of operations. To not implement such a surcharge would have been irresponsible of us as a transport operator. We are obligated to maintain our standard of safety, security & comfort, without excuse.

Although international fuel prices have recently fallen to a level similar to that experienced at the end of 2007, we have yet to witness an overall reduction in operational costs that would justify a reduction in the current surcharge.

Therefore, with immediate effect, the previously termed “fuel surcharge” shall now be referred as a “surcharge” so as to better represent the underlying purpose.

Please be assured that we are monitoring the situation & it is our intention to always maintain fair & appropriate pricing for the services we provide.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding in these difficult economic conditions.

The pre-immigration gate will close 15 minutes 23 September 2008

Dear Passengers,
To ensure there is sufficient time to process the departure immigration and security checks, please note that with effect from Tue, 23 September 2008, the pre-immigration gate will close 15 minutes before your ferry departure time. This is to avoid any unnecessary delays to the ferry departures.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Notification of Fuel Surcharge applicable on All Ports 1 June 2008

Due to the recent escalation in the price of fuel, we shall amend our existing Fuel Surcharges for all sectors to / from Singapore.
Effective from 1st June 2008, a new Fuel Surcharge of S$7.50 per oneway sector shall be chargeable for all Batam sectors. The new Fuel Surcharge is independent of the ferry ticket price. Please note the following:
1. All new issue 1-way ferry tickets shall have Fuel Surcharge of S$7.50 included into the ticket price.
2. 2-way ferry ticket will normally have the full Fuel Surcharge of S$15.00 ($7.50 per one-way sector) included into the     ticket price (unless indicated otherwise).
3. For all presold tickets, the difference between the fuel surcharge already paid and the new fuel surcharge will need     to be paid at the point of departure. Tickets without fuel surcharge will be required to pay the full new Fuel     Surcharge.

This limited adjustment will allow us to maintain current service levels in the face of continued, rising fuel costs worldwide. We will continue to monitor the price of fuel and keep the application of the fuel surcharge under active review.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding in these difficult economic conditions.

FUEL SURCHARGE ANNOUNCEMENT 7 January 2008

2-way tickets originating from Batam, fuel surcharge will normally not be included in the ticket and $10.00 fuel surcharge shall be payable at the point of departure from Singapore. In any case, the difference between the Fuel Surcharge already included in the ticket and the fuel surcharge payable will be collected at the point of departure in Singapore.

This surcharge is independent of ferry ticket price and is applicable to all  ticket types for both adult and child commuters.

TICKET TRANSFERABILITY ANNOUNCEMENT 4 December 2007
4th December 2007 - with immediate effect, passengers holding full fare tickets valid for the Indonesia, Sekupang - Singapore, Harbourfront sector may use that ticket to transfer to Penguin Ferry timings on the same sector. Promotional or discount tickets may be transferable subject to a transfer surcharge.

Passengers should note that this is a commercial transfer i.e. there is no contractual relationship between Batamfast and Penguin, therefore Penguin terms and conditions of carriage shall apply when travelling on a Penguin vessel.

In view of the very high fuel and operational costs and the timeslot limitations at both ports, we trust our passengers will see this as an effort to maintain our lowest possible prices in a high cost environment.

PDF ANNOUNCEMENT 12 November 2007
Due to escalating third party costs, the PDF (passenger departure fee) is now S$6.00 per departing passenger from Singapore with effect from 12th November 2007.  This surcharge is independent of ferry ticket price and is applicable to all  ticket types for both adult and child commuters.

This charge includes the following:

a. items chargeable directly per passenger departure / arrival - $3.00 PDF (as termed by SCC), $0.60 departure security fee, $0.60 arrival security fee, $0.75 baggage handling fee, $0.25 SPOS (Computer Fee) and

b. items charged to us but not charged on a per passenger basis - ramp service $0.25 per passenger bag, amendments, cancellation of boarding pass $0.10 per transaction, berthing fees $20.00/$30.00 per berthing slot, counter rental, bank guarantee costs, insurance and administration of the above.

FUEL SURCHARGE ANNOUNCEMENT 1 August 2005
Due to escalating global fuel prices, ferry operators have been imposing a flat fuel surcharge of S$5.00 since 1st August 2005 through a Fuel Surcharge Agreement for each passenger departing from Singapore.

This agreement has now been terminated with immediate effect.

With global fuel prices remaining high, we are unilaterally  imposing a fuel surcharge of S$5.00 per departing passenger from Singapore for ferries plying Batam sectors, with immediate effect.  This surcharge is independent of ferry ticket price and is applicable to all  ticket types for both adult and child commuters.

We trust you understand that the imposition of this surcharge is critical in maintaining our commitment and the highest standard of service to you.  We look forward to serving you better and thank you for choosing BatamFast, Asia’s favourite fast ferry operator.
